Bike the C-bus!
Author: meredith :: Posted: Sat Jul 19, 2008 7:26 pm

Consider Biking is proud to partner with the Long Street Businessman's Association for Bike the C-bus, part of this year's Long Street Tour on August 23. Your $25 registration in Bike the C-Bus qualifies you for a $15 day-of discount towards a Consider Biking Membership!

The fee also includes an official 2008 "Long Street Tour" t-shirt and wristband along with drinks and food at designated rest stops.

Bike the C-Bus will cover approximately 30 miles and feature stops that highlight exciting changes that are occurring in our urban neighborhoods. Each stop will be sponsored by businesses and community groups and provides snacks, drinks and entertainment for the riders.

Bike the C-bus highlights the King Lincoln District, Downtown, Short North Arts District, Italian Village, University District, Harrison West, Victorian Village, Arena District, Franklinton, Brewery District and German Village. It is configured in segments for cyclists who don't wish to complete the full route; it is considered a ride, not a race, and offers a variety of course options to accommodate everyone from recreational riders to hard-core fitness enthusiasts.

LINE-UP: Gather at noon in Goodale Park. The best way for coming into line-up is from the south end of Park Street, heading North towards Buttles. Look for the Consider Biking Banner. Step off is at 1:00.

PARADE ROUTE: Park Street, to Buttles, Dennison, Collins, Neil Avenue, East onto 2nd Avenue, and t High Street ending at Russell

OUR THEME: “Alternative fuel.” That is, what powers you when you're on your bike? The sky is the limit, think of some creative way to decorate yourself and your bike to symbolize whatever it is that makes you pump, like:

*Food and drink: Power Bars, Twinkies, Beer, Coffee

*Emotions: Fear (of traffic, potholes, dogs on long leashes, political candidates); Desire: (use your imagination here)

*Others: have someone push/pull you and your bike

If you can include the web address for Consider Biking somewhere on yourself or your bike, that would be great!

YEA!! WE DID IT!! We got him a really cool bike! Casey did a great job picking one out! I tried to get Justin to let me bring it home, you know, for safe keeping, but for some reason he said no. I'm so proud of everyone coming together to help Justin out!!

It was great to meet people face to face as well! Janet and Dean and Justin, it is an honor!

5th Annual RIDE OF SILENCE
Author: meredith :: Posted: Mon May 19, 2008 10:24 am

The Ride of Silence is a slow group ride, akin to a funeral procession, in total silence. The ride is a safe, responsible, professional and mature response to the aggressiveness, intimidation, and carnage that cyclists face on the roads we ride. It is a means to:

- remember and mourn those killed by motorists,
- raise awareness that our community has, and supports, a large population of cyclists,
- show the public that cyclists are not going to stop riding on the roads,
- point out that we ask for respect from motorists,
- remind motorists that we wish only to SHARE the roads.

Please support the efforts of Consider Biking to help us make conditions safer for cyclists!
